Middle School Counseling Team

Mike Feinberg

School Counselor

Mike Feinberg was born and raised in South Windsor, Connecticut. He pursued a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in communications at the University of Connecticut, and then continued on at UCONN to receive his master's degree in educational psychology.

Mike first began working with students with autism at the River Street School for Autism in Hartford, CT. After receiving his master's, he began his career as a long-term substitute counselor at Newtown Middle School in Newtown, CT. Soon after, he began working at Duggan Academy.

Now in his 10th year, Mike has helped forge the identity of the counseling program at Duggan Academy, providing academic counseling, college and career readiness lessons, and helping students advocate for their needs.

In his free time, Mike enjoys hiking, playing video games, and spending time with his family. One interesting fact is that his father attended Duggan over 50 years ago.

CHANDRA JACKSON

School Adjustment Counselor

MY PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY
The role of an educator is to create an environment that is inclusive to all its members, no matter their capabilities, interests, or cultural and socio-economic background. The classroom should be a safe and supportive environment in which all students have a right to learn and develop through rich and engaging activities.

MY EXPERIENCE
I transitioned into the field of education in the fall of 2016 in the role of a special education paraprofessional. The following school year I took on the role of dean of students. After three years of working with students and families in the capacity of a dean, in the fall of 2020 I transitioned into the role of school adjustment counselor for grades 6–12.

MY EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY
I am a proud graduate of Springfield Public Schools. I continued my education earning a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Elms College. I have most recently completed my educational journey earning both a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Western New England University and a Master of Social Work from Saint Louis University.

To all students and families, it is my pleasure to be a part of you and your child’s educational journey. Dream big and work hard!

Jill Williamson

I would like to welcome you to the 8th Grade Duggan team.

Completing middle school and narrowing down high school choices can be a bit overwhelming to think about. In career awareness class, students will learn about the different career clusters, research high schools, and complete interest inventories.

About Jill:

I have lived in Springfield all of my adult life and I raised my family here as well. I value this city and will reside here for many years to come. I attended American International College and have been working with Springfield Public Schools since 2006. I am passionate about working with the students in my community.

I consider myself a life-long learner and try to instill this trait in others. This approach also allows me to have many interests and hobbies.

Students will be encouraged to communicate their findings to others. They will draft their first resumes and learn about the steps to employment.

I hope after students learn a bit more about themselves, and after researching their options, families and students will ballot Duggan #1.
