Letter From Associate Principal William Snow
Dear Duggan Academy Families:
I hope that you are enjoying the summer weather as well as the academic pause. We are thrilled to report that our school has made great strides in the programs and classes we offer our students, adding numerous opportunities to earn college credit and gain collegiate exposure. Through the hard work of our students and teachers, our 2021 graduating class had the highest percentage of students progressing on to attend college after graduation of any general education high school in the city of Springfield. Building on this success, we want to let you know about two impactful changes that will be implemented in our school to help our students be more successful in their academic pursuits. Please read below:
I.Uniform Changes
II. Attendance
Students are permitted to be absent from classes 8 days per quarter. Any student absent more than 8 days from a class may be administratively failed/withdrawn from the course for insufficient time on learning. 4 absences during a quarter will trigger a conference among school administration, the student, and parents/guardians to understand and address the attendance situation.
These changes are implemented to allow students and teachers to focus increased energy on learning and continued student achievement. Thank you for your cooperation and support with these changes as well as all other Duggan Academy High School policies.

I.Uniform Changes
- Duggan High School students will be required to wear the following during the school day:
- Maroon polo shirt with collar. Shirts should be tucked into pants. Students may wear Duggan Academy sweaters over their maroon collared shirts, but sweaters cannot replace the uniform shirt – the uniform shirt should be worn underneath any additional article of clothing.
- Khaki or black pants with belt. Pants should have belt loops - Leggings, yoga pants, and sweatpants (including those labelled Duggan) are specifically not allowed.
- On Fridays only, students are permitted to wear Duggan gear as well as gear from any college or university – any article of clothing (sweatpants, t-shirts, etc.) labelled “Duggan” or with a college decal can be worn instead of the uniform shirts and pants. Fridays only.

Letter From Principal Calvanese
Dear Duggan Academy Families,
We hope all of you are doing well. We at Duggan Academy are excited to begin the school year, and our teachers and administrators are getting ready to make this an excellent learning experience for your student. We want to ensure that each of our new 6th graders and returning students continue to have access to high-quality curriculum and assignments.
Last spring there was more flexibility to our attendance and grading policy. This fall, grades will return to the standard A-F grading system, and we will no longer use the Pass-Fail grading system. You can expect your child will receive a high-quality education in a safe, supportive, and successful environment.
If you have any questions, please call me at 413-439-5458.
We believe that ALL students –without exception-can achieve at high levels, and we are committed to ensuring each students’ continuous growth.
Thank you and we hope to “Feel the Love” on our upcoming zoom meetings!
