A Family Guide to Map Growth

Children learn better—and faster—when teachers have a clear picture of what each student knows and is ready to learn next. That’s why a group of educators and researchers founded NWEA®, a not-for-profit organization that has created some
of the most trusted and reliable assessment solutions available. More than 11 million students in the US and in 140 countries worldwide use MAP® Growth™.

Leveled Literacy Intervention Program (LLI)

The Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) program is designed for children who need an extra boost in their reading and writing skills to help them read at grade level. The goal of the LLI program is to provide a positive learning environment for your child while he or she learns to be an independent reader and writer.
Teachers who work with the LLI program provide daily instruction in a small group setting, with four to 6 students in each group. During an 80-minute period, students work on improving their reading, writing, phonics and decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.
Through the LLI program, your child will gain the ability to deeply understand both fiction and nonfiction texts. Your child will read books in every lesson and will discuss the key understandings and vocabulary of each book. Through phonics and word work, your child will improve his/her abilities in and knowledge of rhyming, letters, letter/sound relationships, letter formation, word analysis, spelling patterns, and high-frequency words. Your child will also develop the ability to read smoothly and with expression.

Math Intervention

Our Math Intervention program is provided to students that need extra support with mastery of math fluencies. This is a short-term intervention that builds students’ skills and strategies so they can succeed in core grade-level math class. Teachers aggressively monitor the progress of students and provide explicit strategy-based instruction and practice on the precise skills with which students are struggling.
